plays

My plays are made of poetry, dance, storytelling. Some are solo plays, some are with musicians, some can be either/both. They have minimal sets and tech needs. I’m up for presenting them in all kinds of spaces - theatrical, community, outdoors like a field full of ruins, a garden - and these days, online. I present them with workshops so that my story inspires yours, and so we begin to excavate - through images, senses, tastes, words, movement - the impact of colonization, dominant culture, authority on our body, spirit, imagination. By embodying what stops our stories, we transform it | us | the journey.

- Regina Meredith Fitiao, MFA Local Artist, Amerika Samoa

It's not often that we get to experience a masterpiece but yesterday it was so quiet in the auditorium--you had us all enthralled!. So here is my testimonial: Shebana's performance was so touching that it felt like I was with her in every moment. She has an amazing way of telling a poetic story through gestures postures and movements that makes the audience feel every word, practically taste every word, anticipating what is to come next. Brilliantly crafted, suitable for any age, and mesmerizing to be sure."

Audience testimonials.

“I hope that if I go to the necessary depth to tell my resonant story, it will inspire others to a resonant depth of listening, creating and connecting. I feel art heals through metaphor; it creates a safe space for what needs to be seen and borne and transformed. ”
